Chris Watts Chief of Police Be A Part Of Our Community Officers from our Community Engagement Division assisted the Salvation Army and delivered presents to seniors in our community. Our Criminal Justice students, who are also in the Rock Hill South Carolina Police Department Cadet Program, held an evening class for some additional training and scenario work. The cadets earned certifications in Stop the Bleed and NARCAN training, courtesy of our EMS instructors. Captain Stinson, Sgt. Andrews, and Officer Whiteside volunteered with Serve & Connect to help pack food boxes for Greg’s Groceries. These boxes are filled with non-perishable food that officers can provide to the those in need in our community. The inaugural Rock Hill Police Cadet Class was introduced at the Rock Hill Schools Board Meeting. Chief Watts thanked the district for their support of this new program. Rock Hill South Carolina Police Department made his dream come true! Thank you Officer Mendez and Officer Langley for being exceptional community service representatives and stopping by to wish Dontay Happy Birthday… His birthday wish.. a picture with a police officer! Freedom Temple Ministries Level Up Summer Camp stopped by today to thank our officers. Officer Keefer stopped by Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism REC in a Box Summer Camp at Boyd Hill. Officer Keefer spoke to the kids, answered questions, and let them climb through his police car. The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run. Officers attended the New Hope Carolinas Community Cookout. It was an awesome event as we were able to meet staff and kids. We heard a success story from an individual that completed the program obtaining a college degree and started both a career and a family. Hayvonia’s Giving Hands was out feeding those in need. Officer Austin was in one of the neighborhoods and they waved to him to come by. He met some very kind ladies who enjoyed getting to know him and thanked him for serving the community. Thank you to Hayvonia’s Giving Hands and all the volunteers who passed out many meals yesterday. We had a crowd visit the department for National Police Week. They came and thanked numerous officers during their visits. The Miracle League at Rock Hill Miracle Park is a wonderful time for all involved. Our officers are having a blast making new friends and exceeding boundaries with these athletes. School Resource Officer Byers and Lt. Chavis were invited to join the cast. These two stars were type-cast as the "Cop" however they thoroughly enjoyed sharing the stage with such a talented group of young adults. Opportunities like these are about building relationships, but more importantly having fun. India Hook Elementary School held its career vehicle day. Sgt. Johnson and Officer Leary made a trip to the school to display a patrol and SWAT vehicle. These vehicles were a big hit as some of the kids did not want to leave without a ride around the block.
